I have Gipiemme Tecno 024 wheels on my 5 year old Cannondale R600. They've been ok for the type of riding I do, although I've broken a few spokes on potholes in the past. The mechanic in my lbs said that they are quite poorly made, the internal machining is quite crude. I know they aren't great for the bike, but I've never gotten around to upgrading.

I'm thinking of doing a light and fast 3 week self supported tour with the bike over the winter - no more than 10 kg of kit on a rack on the rear (I'm average weight, 75 kg or so).

Does anyone with experience of these wheels think they are up to riding of that sort, or should I get something more robust?

The fact that you've had breakage problems suggests that they might not be reliable enough for your tour. Look at something like a Mavic Askium - cheap and bomproof
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
