Cyclocross clinchers for MUD!
Hi guys,
Given the torrential rain falling outside and the fact that I was told on Thursday that a good chunk of tomorrow's race is 'through a boggy field' I 'm just wondering if anyone can suggest a good mud specific 'cross tyre?
I've been using Vittoria clinchers with chevrons' rear one on so the chevrons are reversed to give maximum grip. They seem fairly good, but not mud specific so I'm just wondering about alternatives. I've managed to run these tyres (touch wood!) at 25 psi without pinch flatting so getting reasonable grip.
Although at this point I'm thinking that different tyres with slightly bigger treads is actually not going to make a blind bit of difference!
Cheers,
Steve

Michelin Mud II's do it for me and perform well in all conditions.
Have some v based ones that came as standard on a Scott team and they are no match for the Muds.
THink they are called Exca Vator or similar.0 -

I use Schwalbe CX Pro Lights, but these are also more of an all-round tyre. Have a look at http://www.zepnat.co.uk - they specialise in 'cross stuff by mail order and have a good selection of tyres - with comments about suggested use - on the site. Might also be worth considering a wider-diameter tyre like a Schwalbe Racing Ralph or Conti Speedking?

Cheers for that guys! Zenpat looks a useful site.
I'm current using these Vittoria clinchers. which seem very similar to the Schwalbe CX Pro Lights. I've got both the 32 and 34 versions of the Vittoria's so I'll may well just use the 34's and hope for the best.
My LBS stocks the MUDII so I think my only other option is to go take a look at that and decide if I want to use them. As I say wondering if it'll make much difference really. I am suspecting that anything that's too muddy for the Vittoria's will have me off and running.
Cheers,
Steve0
