Just wanted to say thanks to you all.
I bought my first bike just over 2 months ago, only because I decided to do an Ironman triathlon.
I really got the biking bug, and after a month or so, found myself with not just a new MTB, but also a third bike, a Giant Bowery.
Since then, my confidence on the bike and the roads has grown enormously, as has my ability.
I even managed to start riding clipless on my road bike.
Although I knew the Bowery had a flipflop hub, it was irrelevant to me, as I was never going to be brave enough or good enough to use it on anything but the freewheel.
But I changed it to the fixed wheel at the weekend, and I *can* ride fixed. But only with trainers and toe clips. Because only proper cyclists ride fixies whilst clipped in. I would never be able to do that. That would always be out of my reach.
Yet tonight I have just put my new SPDs on the Bowery. And am about to attach the cleats onto my new shoes.
Tomorrow, I will be riding clipless on a fixed gear single speed bike.
In large part, that is thanks to all of you, and to this forum. It's made me realise that actually things are possible, and that things can work, and I can do it.
Ok, enough of the schmaltz, I'll MTFU now...

But I was only joking0 -
Aah that is lovely. I was going to write something myself along these lines (minus the ironman bit  )
I feel very encouraged in my cycling endeavours (as well as accountable - I try to ride to work as often as I can now - still pathetic but there you go)
I feel safer and wiser
And I'm delighted to know a few more nutters!Emerging from under a big black cloud. All help welcome0 -
I'm delighted it's all working out, Jen, and from a selfish point of view you've made a big positive difference to bikeradar so we're all winners. As have you, Linsen
Group hug? /hippy0 -
