Does anyone know what the above actually is?
I have seen a lot of receipies in fitness magazines but don't know if it is a supplement, a powder, or vitamin of some sort, and I can't seem to see it anywhere in the supermarket!
Cheers

Proteins are fundamental components of all living cells and include many substances, such as enzymes, hormones, and antibodies, that are necessary for the proper functioning of an organism. They are essential in the diet of animals for the growth and repair of tissue and can be obtained from foods such as meat, fish, eggs, milk, and legumes.
Protein supplements are an easy and convenient way of increasing you protein intake. If you have an active lifestyle or workout, you will need more protein in your diet to help repair the damaged tissue. You will find many athletes use protein powder to help repair and maintain there muscles and as its a natural ingredient you shouldn't be afraid of taking it.
There are many types of Protein Powders, Whey Protein being the popular which like the others can be purchased as Concentrated or Isolate, Isolate being the better quality with a higher protein ratio.
I regularly use Whey Protein Isolate see below:

Tesco have recently added a range of Maxmuscle supplements... this includes whey protein.
I did a long stint on differing whey proteins during my kickboxing days and for building muscle there is nothing better!!Cove Handjob XC

Stay clear of maximuscle, there prices are ridiculous.
I have been training for over 7 years and used many sport supplements online shops, from my experience www.myprotein.co.uk and www.sportsupplementsuk.com give the best service and products for the best prices. Maximuscle spend large amounts of money on advertising and marketing and these get past onto the buyer.0 -

tastes quite nice tooIt is a rough road that leads to the heights of greatness0 -
whey protein is great stuff, though make sure you buy decent powder, as the inferior cheap stuff will cause you problems, and you wont see any gains rather than a bad stomach!
also, watch how much you take, and dont rely on it as a meal replacement, as its a supplement......so use it with good diet.
i often have 2 scoops 3 times a day in the winter with whole or semi skimmed milk, as i put on 2-3stone of muscle.
for muscle maintenance, 2 scoops with semi skimmed milk is fine twice a day.
or if you are calorie counting, 2 scoops 3 times per day with water.roberts dogs bolx

Seriously though whey isolate is great for losing weight as it can be used for meal replacements very effectively though just don't go pumping iron at the same time.
Whey isolate is generally MUCH better than concentrate (for endurance athletes at least).0 -
I use the reflex whey protein, it isnt the cheapest but not the most expensive too. It mixes very well and tastes good too0

I mix Body Fortress with Milk and seems pretty decent.0

Ditto MyProtein. I've been using this for six weeks combined with upping the weight training intensity and am seeing some better results than I ever saw with the Body Fortess stuff. The velvet vanilla flavour is lovely....and it doesn't make me fart like the Body Fortress :?0 -

I've seen quicker gains in muscle size and strength in those few weeks than 2 years of taking the Body Fortress stuff. I couldn't put a weight-gain on that as six weeks ago I was also carrying extra fat which has now gone. I don't know how I would factor this in to put a number on the muscle gain so I have to rely on what I see and how I feel. I'm increasing the weight I lift more regulalry than before. I only take it after lifting weights and not when finishing a ride. Before I bought it I trawled various fitness forums (I was getting fed-up of stinking my house out!) but it was the Mens Health forum that convinced me to give it a go. There were a few positive comments about it but largely negative about the BF stuff). My primary reason for buying though, I have to admit, was cost....with the usage guidelines it worked-out about the same as the BF sale-price. And when I compare BF vanilla to MyProtein vanilla - it's no contest. The MP stuff is delicious. I couldn't say that about BF.0

I just use H&B's Amino Acid Tablets 1000's I think, work out much cheaper and none of the associated weight gain issues, does seem to reduce my muscle rebuild time and I seem to lose weight better when I'm on them to.0

Amino Tablets wasn't enough, got the on sale for £5 and H&B Whey Protien and huge improvement in recovery times thankfully.
Back on the training soon0 -

this is what i use...no flavorings, sweeteners and you can mix it with fruit juice or milk...juice is better...the actual powder taste like shit though, but becuase of no sweeteners/flavorings e.t.c...you wont gain weight like you will with those nice tasting strawberry/banana/chocolate whey mixis...trust me...;)...and no, you wont get stoned on it...lol.0 -
interesting to see so many people use MP, been using these lot for about a year now, they are IMHO thee best suppliers of health supplements I've come across - no bullshit excellent choice and best range of quality products and very cheap espcially in bulk. I use hydrolised whey, BCAA, EEC, glutamine, arginine with quality results inc shorter recovery periods and mixed with relevant exercises a decent increase in lean muscle mass.'..all the bad cats in the bad hats..'0

Great prices but product wise they're no better than average.
What other companies have you used to compare to?0 -

I find my protein chalky and sometimes gritty, bsd is by and large as good as some of the best like cnp or gaspari which cost a fortune, i use their optimise as it's a mix of whey and casein so you get fast and slowly digested proteins, ideal for day and night use.
Not to mention the chocolate flavour is yummy. The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

I have been through a lot of different products H&B Maximuscle, Reflex Met Rx etc etc What I like about MP is there is no bullsh!t and the range is pretty wide for what I am looking for (BCAA, creatines, protein powders and amino's) These are thee only supplements that I can honestly say have given me results. I have tried lots of so called 'new discoveries' and expensive mixtures and seen nothing. The previously mentioned supps' with a decent diet and relatively consistent training regime works well for me'..all the bad cats in the bad hats..'0
