Best Place to leave a Bike in the Oxford St Area?

Hi all,
First post from a lurker, thought it was about time.
My daily journey takes me from Crouch End (North London) to Waterloo for the train and back.
The missus has just asked me to go and pick something up in Oxford St on my way home tonight, anyone any suggestions on a sensible place to leave my bike for 30 mins or so?
The lock I have with me is adequate for the bike sheds at work, but not one I'd want to use on the street for too long.
cheers
Steve

Hello and welcome.
I'm not sure I would want to leave my bike unattended anywhere in the area but this might be a more secure option;
http://www.westminster.gov.uk/carparks/ ... street.cfm
it lists push bike bays as a facility and is fairly central (not too far from Oxford Circus).
I'm not sure if they charge - give them a call.
another option;

Ah, there we go.
You can lock your bike to the railings of the green in Hanover Square - just back from Oxford Street, to the south.
Or at least you could in about March, which was the last time I did!0 -

Thanks for that, think I'll check out the carpark and if that doesn't work out I'll have to use one of the bike stands in the street.
If you see a man juggling with lights, computer and water bottle and possibly a front wheel later tonight that may well be me - unless my act isn't as original as I thought.cheers

When ever I've left my bike there, I've always attached the bike to the railing on the road side on the actual Oxford Circus itself. That way if someone is going to try and take it, they're going to really stick out. Doesn't mean that anybody would stop them, but it may deter them being so out in the open!0

Not on Oxford Street - try behind John Lewis, can't remember the square, lots of people but none of the dregs that patrol the main drag
It's just a hill. Get over it.0 -
