Came off my folder this morning om the road at Hyde Park was moving into the right-hand lane to turm right into the cycle path , lost control of the bike and went flying across the road. not sure why but think crank went spinning and I lost balance. God was I lucky the were no cars behind me if that had happened 5 minutes earlier on the Main road I would be under the wheels of a bus . Seemed to have damaged my knee which has now stiffened up. I am however hesitant now to get back on the bike to go home tonight or commute back in again as I do not know the cause of the loss of control its put the sh&tt3rs right up me. I am posting as I would like to give my thank and appreciation to the people who stopped to assist me, make sure i was not badly injured , dusted me down and put me back on my bike.
Please everyone be careful out there .

Hope you aren't too damaged and recover soon so you can get back on the saddle!0

Perturbing!
You may have hit a spill - a slippery bit of road or something.
Hope you're OK and heal up, and get back on the bike soon!0 -
diesel, damp metalwork on the road, clipping a pedal on the ground? so many ways to throw yourself at the ground!
Hope you feel better and get back on the bike. A gentle ride home might help stop your knee from seizing up.Short hairy legged roadie FCN 4 or 5 in my baggies.

Filtering up to green traffic lights an iPloder steps out from in front of a stationary oil tanker giving me 3 yards notice. Despite throwing the anchors on ped and I ended up in a heap on the floor, with me still clipped in and p1ssing bloody from chops (all down front of my lubly new jacket ). Cut lip, elbow, knee and shoulder now slowly seizing up.
Ped fine, if embarassed after two traffic wardens gave him a right telling off.
Bike's fine though! As an internet discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or cycling helmets approaches one0 -

I hope the damage is superficial and heals quickly.
Get back on the bike, take it easy, and you'll soon get your confidence back.A fanatic is one who can’t change his mind and won’t change the subject - Churchill0 -

fell off my road bike twice before going at what for me was fast into a right-hand corner on a wet road. in Flanders, ouch. Got up carried on and 20 minutes later came another cropper going into a left-hand corner, some people never learn. I don't mind that because i know why that happenned but this morning incident did not have an obvious reason other than I think lost traction in on the crank\chain. As you say probably better to get right back on , take it easy and get confidence back. Only been commuting for 7 weeks but feel I could not go back to getting bus\tube, which i had started this years arrive at work relaxed , invigorated and ready for the day ahead. I will have to bite the bullet.0

Bike seems ok but haven't gave it a thorough check yet. My brand new Sealskinz gloves are ripped. Skin can be replaced but my gloves nooo.0 -
You say "lost traction in chain" I presume you mean the chain came off i.e. no resistance to pedalling and wham you're off. It can happen. check your chainline, tension, derailleur stops etcroad0

Unlucky. Best thing to do is get back on tonight and pootle home. Do the same tomorrow and confidence will slowly build.0

I had my first clipped-in fall yesterday in our works car-park
Trying to turn on my flashing ankle band while clipped into the right pedal I slowed almost to a stop and reached down to switch it on. Not being clipped into the left pedal all my weight went to the right side & over I went, oh how we laughed, well the two people who saw me did anyway!0 -

My first ever clipless ride a few weeks back, and I did a few laps of Richjmond Park. Was a mile away from home and feeling very chuffed that I'd managed 30 odd miles without coming off, when I stopped at a lights and did the unclip left, lean right thing too :oops:0
