Hey

I got a Fenix torch and I also bought the Lockblock to go with it.

The lockblock is on tight but it seems like the light moves all the time, it keeps edging down and I need to re-adjust.

Is there something more secure I can use, do the sell like a QR thing that you can buy.

I was looking at the joystick maxx and that clamp and it looks ideal, but dont think you can buy seperate.

Any ideas guys.

Thanks

Use a bit of inner tube as a shim - that works for me.

It wouldn’t be the nicest looking thing but using two jubilee clips has been suggested. One round the bars and the other one to hold the torch. Secure and cheap!

My lockblock is secure on my bars - maybe yours are slippier ? Yeah - the innertube round the bar should work nicely - or if you feel flush - go to Tesco and buy their £1 car dash non slip mat. Cut a strip of that off and use that. Sorted.

They should make a universal QR with a strap on top thats adjustable.

Fenix make a bike mount themselves; I have no experience of it however. Most people who have tried it prefer the LockBlock AFAIK.

I bought the Fenix mount, it rattles a bit (I told Rob at The Photonshop and he sent me a Lockblock free of charge!), I did resolve the rattling with some PTFE tape between the two halves, but the mount is still less convenient than the lockblock (require unscrewing to remove torch). The lockblock did slip on my mtb bars, but not on my road bike when over the bar tape, so I stuck a sliver of inner tube on the bars an now it's perfect, and very quick and easy to use.

    Thats for all the advise.

Might get some black tape and tube, should do the trick.

Thanks for the advise on this.

But some place should come up with a Universal QR thing and can extend or something.

I actually like the minimalism of the Lockblock, however there is a QR mount here (no idea if its any good, but it's cheap!) (actually, the reviews suggest it isn't very good and it might be too large for narrow AA lights without extra duck tape)
  • I have the exact same problem with my Fenix TK11 + twofish lockblocks mount.

Although the innertube idea stops the shifting up and down, there is always a little wobble due to the rubber construction.

Just ordered one of these myself: http://www.fenixtorch.co.uk/led_torches ... mount.html

You will find it rattles, the lockblock is steady if fastened really tight. The Fenix mount can be improved by winding quite a lot of ptfe tape between the two discs, they are too loose, in order to allow rotation of the mount (which isn't very useful). I took the mount apart to try and tighten it but this didn't work, so then I resorted to the tape.

I bought a couple of these from Dealextreme http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.8274 for use with my two torches - very cheap, and whilst still being rubber made, are a bit stiffer so don't seem to flex/wobble much if at all.

They are fitted onto a pair 31.8mm (oversize?) handlebars either side of the stem. I've removed the bolt and rubber shim and used a cable tie instead - rock solid upto now. I've got the following torches in them

torch 1: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.14027) fits perfectly, rotating torch around so clip on it fits over side of mount - no problems yet :)

Torch 2: The infamous Tesco 3W AA Cree jobby. This torch is a bit thinner than the other, and so i've had to use a piece of rubber wrapped around the torch handle in order for it to fit snuggly - seems to be fine although not had chance to fully test yet (only got torch today)
