He has also most likely lost his livelihood. The court will have taken this into account also.0

You would expect a 'catastrophic outcome' for what is tantamount to attempted murder, wouldn't you?
I personally don't feel that a severe prison sentence is necessarily the right response, but come on, an 18 month driving ban? Why not life? At the very least - 5 years?0 -
If I behaved like this with the tools of my trade (no more or less deadly, but not a car), I would expect something a bit more significant than a 4 month sentence.
The livelihood - wouldn't even cross my mind that I would keep that!0 -
Defence lawyer Graham Walker revealed that Palmer had since lost his taxi licence and that the effects of the case coming to court had been "catastrophic" for his client.
All in all the taxi driver got what he deserved, he has lost his livlihood. The sentence was lenient, but he'll come out of nick with no job. Future employment will be difficult, if not impossible.
I read the original story some time ago, and one of the witnesses was another Taxi driver, so they are not all bad.0 -
This guy should have got more than an 18 month driving ban for using a car as a weapon.
I'm pleased he lost his taxi license - he's clearly a bit of a nutter.
And I don't feel any sympathy for him having lost his livelihood - he should have considered that possibility before he acted.0 -

+1'Hello to Jason Isaacs'0 -
Bastard has no right to be on the road, let alone making a living from driving on it. I'm pretty empassioned about cabs right now. I have no sympathy whatsoever. Even if his precious cab did get a little smack, how does that compare to attacking a cyclist with a moving 1.5 tonne lump of metal?0

You can imagine the scenario. Driver walks into his cell with his nice prison clothes, and gets to greet his nice new friend (or should that be fiend)...
"Nice trousers, now drop 'em peaches!" :twisted:0 -
I suspect this driver will be back on the road in ten weeks, driving an unlicensed and probably untaxed, uninsured and un MoT'd minicab.___________________________________________
People need to be told what to do so badly they'll listen to anyone0 -
A professional driver that drives like this should be kept off the road for good. He clearly shows bad decision making abilities. If the prison system was not overloaded I would hope he would have been given more time to mull over his punishment.0

And what else is going to keep people out of prison. I knew a guy who came out after doing 2 years for nicking cars (some of you lot would have loved him ) and he said if people knew whate went on they wouldnt be breaking the law.0
