Hi All,
I have decided to get back into MTB riding after a long lay-off.( I use the term back into loosely,as all I used to do was very gentle trail riding) Anyway i want to take things a bit more seriously this time.
I have narrowed the bike down to a choice of three, Carrera Vulcan. GT Agressor or Decathalon Rockrider 5.3 all seem to do the job and be a good entry bike.
What else will I need ? I have a good helmet and gloves plus a suitable backpack.
I am thinking pump, repair kit, inner tubes, toolkit and lock.
Clothing wise I have suitable inner layers for the top half but was wondering what to use as an outer shell ? Also is it too cold to wear shorts this time of year, what are the alternatives ???
Any advise would be very appreciated.

And yes, for oldies with old knees (like me), too cold now for shorts. I prefer bib tights as they keep knees warm.0 -
Some guys use dedicated kneew or leg warmers, or kneed pads, or tights, or baggy trousers to keep kneew warm,
As an outer shell you may want to consider two options - a long sleeve windproof jersey for dry days, and a thin waterproof shell jacket (a cheap, popular option is the Altura Nevis) for when it's not so dry."Melancholy is incompatible with bicycling." ~James E. Starrs0
