Cougie - I'm afraid I cant really say what it looks like in lumins. To my eye the mediuim setting is about half as bright as the high. But medium is enough for just about everything - I only put them on high when i want to show people what they can do.
Its very difficult to describe how bright they are - most folks I've spoken to dont like the idea that a £40 set up can throw out more light than £300 worth of dedicated bike light. Ideally find a friend who has them and take a look. I really doubt you'd buy anythng else afterwards.

Thanks for that TD !0

Anyone else noticed the 'police car' effect of of the Fennix LD20 on strobe?
I got one a couple of weeks ago and when filtering on the right have noticed cars pulling over to the left a few times. Initially i thought it was just because they could see me coming and were being nice, but I pulled over into a bike shop the other evening and they:
a) said how amazingly bright they thought the light was - it was lighting up all the luminous jackets they had up on display. And:
b) How initially they thought it was a police car going past because of the brightness and strobe pattern of the light.
This has made me re-evaluate the cars pulling over phenomenon... and kind of made me think that my Fennix on turbo may be a bit dodgy to use in traffic. Anyone else noticed this? What do you reckon?0 -
The Fenix isn't legal in strobe mode - the falsh rate is higher than specified in the RTA. There is a higher limit on flashing to avoid triggering epilepsy.
You don't really want any oncoming driver to have a seizure as you are filtering past traffic!0 -
I had mine on going past 4 or 5 police cars the other day - they didnt bat an eyelid.
I'd think that a driver going through trees on a sunny day is more at risk from having a fit than a small light going the other way ?0 -

I didn't know that - but it makes sense. Like Cougie I've passed a couple of police cars no problem but I think I'll stick to full beam angled away from oncoming trafffic in future.
I'll miss the cars pulling over to let me through mind...0
