Just left work at lunchtime - rode out to the local park for a couple of circuits - probably about 4 miles in total. So much better than commuting.
Now grinning like a mad thing, splattered with mud - and having to use the office fan to cool down
Excellent :D

  • You crazy person. I drag myself here, gorge myself on bananas and cereals bars all day, then drag myself back up the hill. Lunchtime is for lunch.

I asked God for a bike, but I know God doesn't work that way. So I stole a bike and asked for forgiveness.
  • OK cooled down a bit now
No sandwiches left at the canteen :(
    and my feet are wet
But that won't stop me from doing it again

  • Lunchtime cycling is awesome, I usually do a couple of miles on my ss at lunch, just to fend off boredom.

I can't be arsed to change into my cycling attire, ride, eat, change out of it etc. within my lunch hour.
  • Last summer (2007), if we can call it a summer I used to go out for rides at lunch time 2-3 times a week. I keep meaning to leave one of my bikes here at work so that even on days that I don't commute I can go out for a ride in daylight if the weather isn't too bad.

The good thing about cycling is that you can eat on the bike!
No-one wanted to eat Patagonia Toothfish so they renamed it Chilean Sea Bass and now it's in danger of over fishing!
  • I've cycled the few miles it is from my office to the city a few times to meet the other half for lunch, but on the whole i'm with biondino, too much messing getting changed and trying to eat in a short space of time.

Well done to those that do it though

I didn't really think it through - spur of the moment - I did change in to my trainers and gloves, but otherwise still wearing my office gear - most of the mud brushed off once dried. At least I have no meetings and clients this afternoon. Didn;t really intend to go that far but I found a park with a big circular rough track and couldn't resist a couple of laps. - Have since looked it up and they do cyclo-cross meets there.

    And I'm still hungry!

I'm shamed  You couldn't get away with not changing for that

Another Side effects from the lunchtime ride. I didn't doze off in the afternoon, normally on a boring afternoon I've entered a light trance by now - or could be because I've had no lunch.

Dude, it's great that you get to go on your bike! I wish I could more often but it's just a bit of a faff, and usually I'm ravenous, and the number of peds in Soho/Oxford St etc at lunchtime is just ridiculous, so biking wouldn't be that much fun anyway.

I'm on the corner of Bond St and Oxford St and on nice days I ride up to Hyde Park (less than 10 mins) it takes 9 mins per lap so do as many as time allows then back to work. I do change though and have a quick shower when I get back and usually make sure I've brought lunch in if I'm going to do that so I eat whilst back at my desk and working.

But in that time I can get out do 4 laps and back in my lunch hour!

  • I've been out on my lunch break once. It was last Xmas just after I'd got my bike. I was working on a site that was abso-fu*king-lutely dead as far as the IT support was concerned, which I was there to provide.

I was in a small room at the end of the corridor with about 6 other people in, I honestly think I could have gone home with no one realizing!

Anyhow it was located in Clement's Inn, just off of Aldywch so I headed off down Strand, along Whitehall and then over Westminster Bridge. Took the bike lanes from the South side that run under Waterloo Bridge along to Blackfriars and then over there. Can't remember the road names I took after that but I turned off at a little cycle lane to double back on myself and ended up riding down Fleet Street to get back to work!

Also had a dash home today as I found out that the plans for where I was working for the rest of the week had been changed and I didn't have the laptop bag with me!

  • I have used my bike at lunch, but normally when I need to go get something! Only once can I remember doing it for 'fun'. My lunch isnt long enough to really go for a proper blast.
