Obama vs McCain

Its the big day today then. Obviously an event that will have a huge impact on what happens in the world over the next 4 years.
I'm hoping Obama does it. I can't imagine what it would be like to wake up tomorrow and see McCain and Palin are in the White House. But I can't help feeling that they might just do it as when it comes down to it, will your average white American be able to vote a black man into the presidency? And also, will the voting system be robust enough to reflect the true result this time.
I think if Obama gets in the States will start to look forward to a brighter future and will drag its, and the world, economy with it. Whether that bright future happens or not we'll have to wait and see but the promise is there.
Come on Obama.

It will be Obama, and not even close. Which is a good thing.0

It should be an easy Obama win."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Obama, but I think it will be close. I think a lot of americans will say Obama on Telly, but when push comes to shove and they're in their voting booth, the old, in-articulate, republican, war hero, white guy will get it.http://www.KOWONO.com - Design-Led home furniture and accessories.0

Just got an email from a friend in southern California, who went out to vote early in the morning but had to come back and pick up bottled water & food -- there were hundreds of people already there, waiting in a long queue.
He says he's never seen that kind of interest before in all the time he's lived there and it's rather inspiring in a place that is usually too laid back to change anything.0 -
Please be Obama, Please be Obama, Please be Obama, Please be Obama, Please be Obama, Please be Obama, Please be Obama, Please be Obama, Please be Obama, Please be Obama, Please be Obama, Please be Obama, Please be Obama, Please be Obama, Please be Obama, Please be Obama, Please be Obama, Please be Obama...etc..etc...
The only people who will be happyif Mcain win are Al Queda (no i don't know hoe to spell it, sod off!!! :P ) whose support will double within hoursWe're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

In talking to people for the last couple of weeks it seems that I have heard more
negative comments about Obama than McCain. Not sure if that means anything but
that's what I'm sensing.

I'll stick my neck out and say McCain. I think a look at policies here might focus that there aint a hell of a lot of difference between the two.

If Obama gets in and starts to repatriate so called "lost jobs" from other economies, then we're in for a real hard slog with protectionism and loss of free trade.. which he said he would do.. thus extending any recession and a start of economic war.
Similarly I don't advocate talking to Iran. if anything history will show that moving into Iraq and afghanistan, right next to Iran has actually stopped Iran from thinking it had a free hand in developing nuclear weapons... keep your friends close, and your enemies even closer.
The goals tend to be the same, the way they wish to get to them slightly different. I'd prefer a bit of experience rather than style over substance.
Anyway we'll be welcoming the winner and running mate to our shores whatever happens as Obama, Biden, McCain and Palin all have Irish roots...0 -

With some regret, I reckon that this analysis pretty damn close - as will be the result.
With even more regret, I don't think who wins matters much either way. The "military complex" driven USA economy and policy will....drive on. Certainly the new administration will inherit a scotrched-earth economy, over spent and over committed by military activities and the financial bail-out.
The simple fact is that the USA is grossly over-borrowed at individual and national level in order to maintain an unsustainable "growth rate". The UK as usual over recent decades holds doggedly on to the coat tails of such blind policy....d.j.

Watching the news tonight, sounds like the turnout is going to be very high especially with the first time African American voters. Im now sort of thinking are these black voters ( it says he winning 97% of the black vote ) voting for Obama purely because he is a black guy & it wouldnt have matted if he was a Democrat or a Republican.0

I think that's the general feeling around the country. Kind of sad, if true.

I'm going to miss Palin -- a lot of comedy potential there.0 -

Goes both ways doesn't it? How many people in the deep south voted for McCain because he was not black and would've done the same if he was a democrat?Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0 -

Yes your right, im sure the rednecks in the deep south wouldnt have voted for a black president, maybe i missed it but i didnt hear about huge numbers of first time white voters turning out but there was talk of huge numbers of first time african / american voters in this election and im curious would they have come out to vote had it been mccain v clinton.
Regardless of who would be the better president, im sure race played a bit part in this election.0 -

Shame that the world's super power, through the fact of the sheer number of them. Lacks so much substance. Thankfully it is Obama, how that will go down in the deep south with the Alabama militia's will be a thing to watch out for. However down I can feel about the state of this country sometimes, looking at America makes me feel a bit reassured actually. 60 million of us, on a small bit of real estate with still something like the 5th largest economy in the world.
If we had the resources of America, we would be phenomenal0 -

For sure, yes. What we need is a system where not voting is illegal and a "none of the above" option is available
Interesting that Palin was brought in to try and bring the woman voters over to McCain but it seems that Obama managed to take more of that voting block. It could be because she's absolutely petrifying.Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0 -

Actually I'm not very interested in politics. For whatever reason it has always just
bored me. I remember being bored of it as a young boy and it's the same now that I'm almost 60. And while everyone from the wife down encourages me to take an interest
because it's my civic duty I just can't seem to muster up much enthusiasm. Even in this election. Although I took more notice of this one than most others.
