The BBC, which has said Clarkson's remarks were intended to make fun of "an unfair urban myth about the world of lorry driving," said that as well as complaints it had received 150 calls in support of the presenter.
What urban myth's this; can't say I've ever heard of it. Is it a southern thing or have I been spending too much time in my cotton wool?

  • has the country really lost its sense of humour??
surely if you are watching clarkson in the first place you kinda expect that sort of thing, why bother complaining, its getting stupid

    exactly! good call.

If you are grown-up enough to drive and vote, you really should have thicker skin and get over such silly playground jibes.

Vic Reeves has breathed a much needed breath of fresh air into Brainiac, how can you not like his GasBangWallop.Com sketch, Hammond is boring in comparison.

    Vic Reeves Comedy Legend.

Richard Hammond OK on Top Gear.

Trouble is, Brainiac seems to fall back on blowing stuff up a bit too often these days, as well as overdoing the Uranus jokes to the point of predictability in the "Stuff NASA Never Tried" feature. The "Chemistry Death Match" segment has been consistently very good, however.
By and large, I'm not knocking Reeves (who do you think I am, Graham Lister? ) - Big Night Out and The Smell of.... were excellent shows, especially the
Masterchef and Slade send-ups in the latter. Oh, and the recurring sketches for improbable products like Walk-Me-Home Cheddar - "How does it work? I dunno....but it does!" :)

brought back some good memories there, cheers David :)
  • I have to say that at the time, I missed the relevance and didn't/don't find it a funny comment now that I do but what a PC over reaction.
