Watch HRM

I just want a simple, reliable HRM that I can easily transfer between bikes.

It doesn't need cycling functions, just the Heart Rate functions, as I've got computers already on my bikes. How do you mount them on the handlebars anyway?

I've got a very limited budget <£60.

Any suggestions?

Polar FS2C

About £40, displays your current HR in exercise mode, has average and max HR functions to see what you did after you finish. It has a coded strap so you only get your data, mine also does up round 31.8 bars tight enough to not move about.

Any reason to choose the FS2C over the FS1?

Garmin Forerunner 50. Excellent watch and HRM and you can download all the heart rate data onto your PC. If you ever decide you want the cycling functions you can buy a speed/cadence sensor that will connect to it.

I think the "c" on the end denotes a coded transmitter. depends on if you ride with other people using non encoded HRMs regularly. Or if you want the few extra functions of the FS2c. There is a FS1c - better option? seems to only not have max HR recall compared to the FS2c.

Thanks for the advice guys. I've got a Garmin Forerunner 50 on the way, got it at an absolute steal @ £20 from Wiggle.

I ordered one for £40 from Wiggle (cheapest I could find) on Sunday, but they never had any in stock so it became a back order. Told they were expecting a delivery mid-Nov, I thought I could wait - got a phone call today saying they just had one delivered, but the packaging was knackered and if I wanted I could have it for half price. A lot better than the £60 budget I had put in place

Can any of these HRM measure from your wrist constantly or do you need a chest strap for all of them?

The polars certainly require a chest strap. I haven't used a garmin one though.

The Garmins use chest straps aswell.
