Track Pump

I'm looking to get a track pump (or anything that I can reasonably accurately tell my tyre pressures with) and have read about a Tesco version on other threads for around £8.99. Few questions:

- Where is this available from? I can't find it for less than £13.

- Is it still worth it at £13 - is it as good as more expensive pumps?

- Is there any reason why I'd get a track pump over say a foot pump... and sorry if that's a complete idiot question?!

Thanks, guys.

I got one of the £8.99 track pumps from Tesco last month. I use Presta valves and I find it hard to get on and off. With that said it does look like the more expensive models you see in Halfords for £25ish and does what it is supposed to do. so I am more than happy with it.

Yeah, I've got the exact same pump, though I got it years ago from an LBS for £25 or so. I've never actually used it with prestas but it's been fine for proper man-sized valves  Just don't pull too hard up the stroke, you can pop the handle off (it pushes back in but it always feels like it might not)

In my opinion foot pumps are stupid invention.
I prefer to pump my tires with my hands than my legs.

    sks rennkompressor every time.
The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

I bought a cheap track-pump on the basis that they must all be the same as they just squash air

    They aren't

Save up and buy a decent pump.

Try a Blackburn, or Joe Blow model or you'll be cursing or paying twice!

The blackburns are lovely... But I paid about that much for my 12V compressor, and it'll jumpstart my car too as well as having a torch fitted ;) Pumping up tyres is for pre-industrial man, we live in the future, just press a button and your tyres inflate like magic
