  • WARNING: I haven't done these routes myself. But I have a friend who goes to Javea each year, and these are typical of what he has talked about.

From Pego, you have four different ways to get to Facheca and Famorca. Two heading West or South West, via Beniali or Val d'Ebo, and two heading South, via Castell de Castels or Tarbena (over the Col de Rates). Any combination is an excellent ride, I'm told.

As I have a sister -in-law who lives in Javea, I'm hoping to try these out in the Spring myself.

I was going to suggest these three but someone has already put them on Bikely. They take in some of my favourite climbs such as the Tudons, Guadalest, Confrides and the Col de Rates.

There are some other routes here.

They sometimes get snow in those mountains in the winter so check the forecast before you set off, or be prepared to turn round. I've experienced freezing fog high up there even in mid-march. Mind you, I've spoken to other people who winter out there and sometimes it's really mild in the winter.

I hope you have good weather when you go.

PS My avatar picture was taken on the road between Tarbena and Castell de Castells which is on one of those Bikely routes.
  • These two routes (both around 100km with 1000m of climbing) are good, with the second being my favourite so far.

    Route #1: Denia - Orba - Parcent - Col de Rates - Tarbena - Castell de Castells - Benigembla - Parcent - Alcalili - Pedreguer - Denia

Route #2: Denia - les Marines - la Marjal - Pego - Vall de Ebo - Alcala - Benirrama - Adsubia - Pego - la Marjal - les Marines - Denia

oi it's november and we have a whole winter to go, you should not be talking about places like this!

seriously, i get out to the costa blanca at least once a year and love these roads!

i did a very nice route starting in ibi, through tibi, round and up the font roja regional park climb, through xixona then back to ibi.......you will need to stick the bike in the car and drive a bit for this one but it had some seriously climbing....if you want a more detailed route overview let me know
