Sram shifter question

Hi all
While out riding yesterday I noticed that all of a sudden the little red indicator in my x5 3 speed shifter wasn't lined up with the gear that was selected any more ? When on the big chainring it actualy dissapears !!
The gears are still working perfectly so I'm wondering if it has come adrift inside the shifter ? Is this possible and is it something that can be fixed ?
