Hey,
I have just started mountain biking and had a little question i was hoping someone can help with.
When i am riding a trail and going over roots or stones my back wheel will often slide out slightly and loose grip. My tyres are fine, how do i stop this from happening.

Thanks

  • try lower tyre pressures. rocks and roots are slippy. try moving weight around to find grip, try to go over stuff with momentum. un-weight the bike, stand up, stay relaxed and let the bike do all the work. hope this helps a bit.

Also, try and go over them as square as possible so that losing traction isn't so dramatic. Wet roots are damn slippy.

Stop worrying about it. A bit of sliding is fine, and fun!

  • Sit back on the saddle a bit more, push forward and slightly down on the bars and pedal just a bit hard, sometimes works for me. ;)

If you are pressing the rear brake then that's good, it helps you to drive through corners faster, and avoid taking the wrong line. And don't steerer to much when hitting rocks and roots. Go as straight as possible on them.
