hi,
been riding 8 months - all XC. i have a stumpjumper 2008. i have this pain in my left hand - wedding finger. its definately something to do with my finger vibrating on the grips. i tried changing the gloves - no effect. tried using ibuprofen gel - again doesn't seem to have an effect. on ly way pain goes away is if i don't bike.
anyone else had this? - honestly its a real pain as it's always there when i ride. if i get cuts, injuries - no probs - my mind takes over - but this finger pain is always there - anyone else had this?
best

not had this, but you may want to try different grips, either thinner or thicker, softer or harder, they are the cheapest 'upgrade' you can get on a bike.
I like thin soft grips, like the serfas.
you may also want to consider bar ends, i have cane creek ergo grips, they can help alternate hand positions when doing long rides and so may reduce pain and discomfort in you hands.
the other thing to check is brake lever position, make sure they are in line with you forearms when standing up on the pedals in the 'attack' position, i.e. when riding singletrack. This ensures you are not twisting your wrists into a bad position, it also means you have more power and control on he brake levers when you need it most.
hope that helps--

The finger pain is probably related to ulnar nerve issues, i had a sever case while out in Whistler to the point where I couldn;t straighten my lring and little fingers. Saw a physio and was given exercises to help stretch the nerve and regain mobility. One exercise for sorting out the problem was doing the hands as goggles/mask pose, i felt really weird having to do that on the plane home I must have looked a bit of a special face.
Here's a couple of interesting articles:

I have not had a repeat occurance of this, my bike is set-up correctly for me however I have learnt that I should set-up a rental bike myself in future.0 -
Hi, I don't mean to ask a stupid question, but are you wearing a ring on your finger? Obviously this could cause pain if you are but I'm guessing you know this and I am asking a stupid question   ........Sorry.... I'll shut up nowhttp://i556.photobucket.com/albums/ss9/ ... lurLT2.jpg
