I read recently that is recommended to renew your helmet every 3 years if it is undamaged etc.
Is this correct?
Many thanks

I queried Specilized about exactly that a few months back, the response I got back from their UK arm was 2-3 years for the amount of use I was giving it, almost every day.

The US said 3-5 years because of the degeneration of the foam, so guess maybe 3 years would be an approximately correct answer.
'Twas Mulga Bill, from Eaglehawk, that caught the cycling craze....
  • wow, that's news to me, better start looking around.
I can see the point of getting a replacement for mine, as I use it so often. I'm figuring I need to do the same for my wife and children's too.
  • Hi there.

I like to take advantage of the generous crash replacement policies, so I make a real effort to break the things on a yearly basis... Last Sunday I left the cx bike and went head first into a stone wall - hence I'm currently waiting for my 3rd new Giro in as many years!

    Cheers, Andy
