Thought some of you may be interested in this, a tunnel project in Dublin constructed to remove port bound HGV traffic from Dublin City Centre. Though obviously deliveries to the city centre still require HGVs to enter the city.

Also find it hard to believe that some cyclists have been deliberated 'rammed' by cars, London sounds like a flippin' war zone.

this has made a huge difference here in my opinion. I cycle through the center of the city and have done for the last 15 years or so, and the difference since the lorries have gone is quite something. Cycling fatalities have been reduced as a result also, which makes the whole scheme worthwhile.

I'm guessing the London 'congestion charge' has had the same affect there though, right? Also being touted for Dublin in 2009 is a complete exclusion zone for private cars from the centre of the city. In theory this sounds great, from a cyclists point of view, but we have a horrible public transport system so I'm yet to be convinced that this can actually work.

Don't think it some kind of perfect solution though. I could tell you some things about the Dublin Port Tunnel in its planning/construction phase that would make it sound like a bunch of 7 years olds were in charge of the project!

Now, if we can only find a way to get bus drivers to pay attention...!!
