Whats a Cav to do?

Poor old Cav.

First Bradders bogs off to Garmin and now Ciolek is off to Milram
Boasson-Hagen is soon going to start harbouring personal ambitions of big wins and Big George isn't getting any younger.

Is his lead-out team starting to crumble?

They've signed Mark Renshaw though - young, selfless, good lead out man

I doubt it. His team mates will realise he's one of the top sprinters in the world and so will ride for him. There are still some handy guys there for him, and others like Mark Renshaw are joining etc. So he'll be fine.

Boasson-Hagen is more of one for the classics than a stage sprinter though surely. Don't see why they couldn't be on the same team.
    Legs, lungs and lycra.

Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

Cav stands atop the achievement tree for the number of wins this year:

Don't see him going backwards in 2009 !

    Mark Cavendish 17
    Tom Boonen 15
    Andre Greipel 14
    Lars Boom 13
    Alejandro Valverde 12
    Cancellara 10
    Alberto Contador 10

Columbia had 29 more wins than CSC - and DOUBLE the wins of 4th place Rabobank Continental.

    Team Wins
    Columbia 76
    CSC 47
    QuickStep 45
    Rabo CT 38
    Credit Agricole 31
    Astana 30
    Liquigas 30
Common sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom

To be fair, those results are a little skewed. A stage in in the Tour of Ireland or Ruban Granitier is not really equivalent to winning the Giro overall.

The only solution is to bring back the old Pernod / Superprestige ratings, or in the absence of that, the CQ rankings might have to suffice http://www.cqranking.com/men/asp/info/whats.asp

  • best website ever... how have I missed that one all these years.

    What he said. Marvellous.

Zabel has done the most kilometers racing this year.

    Who knew?

The idea of the Pro Tour rankings had some merit if they could have sorted the points system a bit better.

Interesting to see how far down those rankings the now drug free DM is. Clearly an advisement for the fact the drugs do work.
