Hercule Q...The Bike Shed from Exeter meet every Friday in the Castle carpark up Woodbury. Keith from the shop know the trails like the back of his hand...and he always manages to show us something new or different.

I'm also out every Tuesday and Thursday with a group and we head up to pretty much anywhere within an hour of Exeter......so Dartmoor, Quantocks, Mutter's Moor, Woodbury, Haldon etc.

PM me if you'd like to join us.

There's quite a good little book I got a while ago, 'South West Mountain Biking'. Covers rides in the Quantocks, Exmoor and Dartmoor. While the maps are pretty rubbish you can easily map it out on an OS and it's a good start to finding routes.

I've done a fair few around Princetown, Bovey, Postbridge (but tried to stay clear of that place after the Postbridge Killer Loop!). But yeah I try to get out as often as possible to anywhere within an hour. Haven't exploored exmoor really, or woodbury common.

    Anyone got any recommendations?

  • wanna be biker, there are some short singletrack descents with a few kickers and drops up Snapper Woods, just a couple of miles out of Barnstaple. As you're 15, I'm assuming that's your cup-of-tea?

If it's xc you're after, there are some bridleways around our way, but they're not the most exciting riding you'll ever do. Coddon Hill can be okay for a night ride in winter, just to get out for an hour or so.

I do most of my riding on Exmoor and the Quantocks, but I'm 34 and do have a van.
