Hey guys,

Well ive had my rockhopper 2008 disc for a month or so now, and since i got it the front brake is brilliant, it brakes very nicely but the rear brake is just awful, it takes a long time for it to come to a stop even if im going very slow. Please help.

Thanks

  • Sounds like it needs a bleed or the pistons setting.. zip tie the level pulled tight to the bar overnight and then try it again.. seemed to help me with mine..
  • Sorry should say.. leave them zip tied overnight.. cut off the tie.. pump the lever a couple of times and try again..

How does the lever feel? if it feels the same as the front then it does NOT need a bleed.

sounds more like the pads are contaminated.

what helped with mine was to adjust the lever out if going back to the bar and also the bite point was pants so i took front wheel off and carefully pulled the lever to bring the pads in a touch, miles better now. was gonna throw them in tthe bin but persisted! my rear pads had a nice glaze on them also, so put sintered pads in. might be worth taking both sets of pads out and comparing them?
