Bar End Plug - too big?

Hi,

I'm trying to fit new bar plug end but it looks like it is slightly too big? It looks this - more or less:

Shall I "force it" in? Any tips?

    They are meant to be a force fit otherwise they'd just fall out. Tap it in with a rubber mallet.

    I had a similar problem I think the handle bars were a thicker gauge ie slightly smaller bore.

    what I did was snip a few 'V's out of the first flange on the bung so it gave it a bit of a lead in.
