Getting my head around UST and No-Tubes setups

Am I right in thinking if the rim is UST compatible and so is the tyre, then no extra stuff is needed?

For instance you could get a UST compatible wheelset that comes with a UST valve, and simply fit a UST tyre and you are ready to go?

The Stans kits are only needed for non-UST wheels / tyres?

Or am I lost?

If you have a UST rim, with a UST valve fitted, then you can use a UST tyre without purchasing anything else.

If you have UST rims, and have been running tubes, then you'll need to get a valve (around £10) also make sure you clean the inner surface of the rim before fitting the tyre.

It is however a good idea to add a little (40-50ml) sealant to seal any punctures (Sealant can be had for around £10 for 250ml.)

As above, you don't need anything else, the tyre will seal eventually (with lots of pumping onto the rim), but a bit of sealant is a good idea to prevent punctures.
