Hi all

I am considering buying a Topeak Explorer Bicycle Rack with Disc Brake Mounts and Spring

http://www.topeak.com/products/Racks/Ex ... dsc_spring

but I am unsure how or where the bottom actually attachs to the bike.

I have attached a few of pictures of my bike

Any ideas or recommendations

Many thanks for your time.

Kind regards

Looks like you don't have rack mounting points at the bottom of the seatstays. Although there are ones at the top of the seatstays, odd!

P clips like you have already used on the rack you have (1st pic) might work, but I guess that'd defeating the object of the new rack?

  • Very odd. Yes I agree, you need mounting holes in the drop outs which seem to be missing.

I'd recommend having a look at the Oldmanmountain range:

They are the only racks that can reliably be attached to a disc mounted mtb. Instead of connecting to the base of the seatstay they attach to a skewer going through the axel, which always strikes me as a stronger option. It means there are no interference issues with the disk. They are very tough and reliable.
