456 fork

after trashing my frame im looking at getting a new 456 and think that a new fork could slip under the wife radar :twisted:. now what to go for?

any one have a good sudgestion for a general trail fork for the up to £200 mark?

Rock Shox Revelation 2009 with Poplock would that be good.


or should i stick with my current.
rock shox reba SL fork with 100mm travel?

my front wheel is a standard QR skewer and i would prefer not to need a new hub or anything..

please go easy on me i get the basics of shock specs but im not sure whats going to be an upgrade or what will be on a par.

Im looking to make it in to a general trail bike able to handle 3" drops/ jumps and able to cover alot of ground.

sell the reba, is an xc fork. Revelation tougher, pike better still if want even more bombproofing, but would require a new wheel. Dont discount the 318 tora either, heavier than the rev, but those steel legs are indestructable.

the problem is i kinda want a bit of all round form this bike but i do like a few moments of stilly down hill. if i go for the tora 318 will i gain alot of weight ?

depends what version. Coil and steel steerer adds more weight.

hummph the on one price for a reverlation come in at £235 ad to that a SLX 20mm front hub should rock in at about £250 that just looks like a bargin to me for a fork for sale at £400 on CRC. Now to try and find a price for some one to put a new hub in hte front wheel. ( can re lace but im not up to building just yet.)


Is it bad that im put of hte 318 due to the v bakes mount ? if so will i get used to them ?

i have found one with the coil and no v bakes mount is this the one you are talking about super ?

take it it is the 09 140mm revelation, looks to be a good fork. Toras can be got disc only, or can unscrew the mounts.

ahh i have been thinking im going to go with the toras. I dont need the 20mm and the cost for the new hub/ new whell is going to be sticking me over the £500 for the set and i was hopeing to get away with £400. Well im going to post pics once its all done.

found wiggle at 188 for the tora 318 for the 2009 and im still looking for 2008. do you know any places to cheak as im working through my copy of WMTB look at the adds for sites to look at.

I have gone for a 08 revelation from JEjames. just over budget and its a QR fitting.
