I've got Slime filled tubes; can I deflate them in order to change a tyre, or will I just end up covered in the stuff?

  • Put the valve at about 8 o'clock, and wait a moment for the slime to drain to the bottom of the tube.

  • Thanks :)
  • Changed tyres a few times with slime tubes, and being careful you can deflate them with very minimal loss of slime if any at all. Just be prepared to do some repair work on the tube as you'll possibly be pulling thorns and stuff out as you pull the tyre away from the tube. Tis amazing how many you can get and not realise until you dismantle tyre/tube combo.

Theres plenty of slime in the tube so it shouldnt matter if you lose a tiny bit when you deflate

The slime can clog up the valve when you let air out with schraeder and some presta valves you can unscrew the valve and wash it under the tap
