My new 'XC' bike - superfeatherweight

Here she is, my winter bike while my scale is tucked up away in a warm blanket

For a total XC race head this thing is mental

- each tyre weighs as much as my scale frame, it's

- the wheelset and forks weigh as much as my complete scale

- the overall weight is nearly twice that of my scale



On a serious note, going to be using it up the peaks to gain strength and improve my handling ready for next years racing, figured it's practically pointless using the scale up the peaks beacuase a) it'll get trashed and b) it's too light to make the hills seem like a challange

about 36-37lbs

there are lighter bikes out there, but at £1200 for a tough full susser that'll get me up mam tor etc and then down the beast with a big grin, i couldn't turn it down. Especially given the RRP was £2400 in 2007.

Funnily enough I went to pick the scale up today and nearly threw it through the ceiling :shock:

Yeah, should of been £1300 but they sent me this 07 in error (as apposed to the 08). To save messing about, not to mention the better spec, i decided to keep this. They didn't want the £1200 for the 08 topping up either 8)

Oh yeah, remember reading the other thread lol. Basically the newer one has the Magic link - but parts wise nowhere near the value.

Well i'm back from ride no. 1.

We went up Jacobs Ladder from Edale over to Kinder Res, then to Rushlip Edge (sp??), to Hollings Cross and then back down to Edale.

Having never ridden the bike or a 6" bike before, I couldn't believe how quick it was before I was sending it off decent sized drops and steps. It actually doesn't climb too bad either, although only managed about half of jacobs ladder.

All in all it was a great day
