Fox Float RP23 rubber seal detached (dust wiper)

Hi,

The rubber seal at the bottom of my Fox RP23 has detached.....it is at the bottom right next to the o-ring that measures the travel distance. It basically now just moves along with the o-ring and I cannot work out how to reattach it to the shock, do you glue it on????? It is just a flat surface on the seal next to a flat surface on the shock.

Any ideas? Cheers.

UPDATE : I think it may be called a dust wiper.

    it is a press fit.

got a picture of the issue?

  • Hi,

Thanx for the reply. Does press fit mean that if I force it back it will go back into place?

I am starting to think if a disassemble the shock I can push it back in from the inside? Does this sound right? It is a specialized FSR Fox RP23 with the bottom seal detached, fairly basic prob, but I have no idea how to fix.

If you look at the bottom left of this pic, it is the seal at the base of the main black outer tube, right near the silver stanchion, that has detached.

    Cheers.

Strange, i have a pushed rp23 and my seal hardly shows at all, i did hear that fox had a bad batch of seals for the rp23, maybe that's what yours has?
The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

Next time it fails don't bother with mojo they may be trying to use up the duff seals on unsuspecting people.

Use tf tuning imo far better than mojo and you still get to keep your warranty as they're authorised by fox.

And later on you can get it pushed for even better performance, by far the best rear shock ive used. ;)

See the seals they use, much smaller.

  • Hi, thanks for the replies but I still am not sure how I can get the seal back in (or is it impossible). If I took the outer casing off can I press it back in from the inside?

    Cheers
  • Don't mess with it and don't ride it, that seal is there to keep grit out of the internals. I second the suggestion to send it in to TF for fixing.
