New forks

Not sure if thsi should be in the buying section, but here goes:
I am looking to change the forks on my bike, it currently has some pretty well used old judys on it running a big disc brake that is probably overwhelming them to be honest. After trawling the internet I think I have to decide between recons and revelations. I want approx 100-120mm of travel, and have found these deals. Which ones should I go for?
revelations:
http://www.merlincycles.co.uk/?fn=product&productId=861&categoryId=18
http://www.evanscycles.com/products/rockshox/revelation-426-u-turn-2007-fork-ec001720
recons:
http://www.evanscycles.com/products/rockshox/recon-335-2008-85-130mm-fork-oem--ec016057
http://www.evanscycles.com/products/rockshox/recon-351-coil-u-turn-85-130-ec001733
Quite tempted by the recon 335's or the revelations at merlin. Do i need u-turn though, surely a good set of forks should be set up so they work properly and have the full range of travel available at any time and if you don tneed them to move you can lock them out?
Does anyone know how much do all the above different forks weigh? And does anyone have any of these and if so what are they like to use/live with?
Thanks in advance.
Chris

Is a recon SL fork basically the same as a recon 335 apart from u-turn facility? What advantages would one have over the other?http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7231/6933696372_603c9ce220_b.jpg

No, the SL (09) is an XC oriented fork with a different chassis.
What bike do you have? U turn can be used to alter the height and travel of the fork ie climbing would be better with a shorter fork.0 -
yep, I am looking for a new fork for my bike (old spec stumpy fsr xc) as the judys on it are shot. I have found the two alternatives, 2008recon 335 u-turn http://www.evanscycles.com/products/rockshox/recon-335-2008-85-130mm-fork-oem--ec016057 at evans for £150, or i have also found a 2008 recon sl at merlin for £150 http://www.merlincycles.co.uk/?fn=product&productId=1236&categoryId=18
and i really dont know which to choose. I like the idea of u-turn as i can keep my travel at about 90 for the makority of it which my current forks are and increase it on the downhills which i love, but does the u-turn make it an incredibly heavy fork? What advantages do either have over each other? What features does the SL have to make it the better choice?

First off, is your frame designed for more than 100mm of travel?0
-
doubt it, it has 80mm - 100mm on there atm i thinkish. Not worried about warranty etc around headtube snapping off, it has a sh1tload of gussetry round it and is beefy enough. And as for the geometry, i thought if i went with the u-turns for most normal riding i would leave it around 90-100mm and then make it bigger for descents. Or i could just stick with the 100mm sl's but im not sure why the sls are the same price and what advantages they hold over the u-turns....http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7231/6933696372_603c9ce220_b.jpg

335 Uturn - longer beefier fork, heavier, travel adjust.
SL - lighter fork, air sprung, no travel adjust.
Personally I'd get the SL. It is designed to work with a bike like yours, is lighter, and the air spring means you can adjust it to your weight more easily (have to change springs with Uturn).0 -

Supersonic, the SL recons in the link on my post at merlin say they are coil sprung - whats the deal - are they air? If they are I will go for them then, but the coil thing in the advert was confusing me - if im going for the weight of a coil anyway in the sl's why not go for the adjustable travel 335 forks.....http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7231/6933696372_603c9ce220_b.jpg

Hmmm, yes coil. In which case I think they have the wrong weight on. Still be lighter than the Uturn, but not much in it.0

ish, could possibly stretch to the revelations at £230ish from merlin but thats very tops....http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7231/6933696372_603c9ce220_b.jpg
