Today I am heading out to Marsden near Huddersfield to ride a loop of 20km, I found it on here actually, I shall report back with my findings soon.
Then tomorrow its the big ride day - Me and easyG are doing the killer loop incorporating Edale, Jacobs Ladder etc... Should be awesome. (its the one featured in this months MBR)
And for a laugh I just bought a map thing to put on the bars, I am useless at map reading  and I know I'll probably get lost today - But I'll be having fun doing it!!

GT Destroyer, now did the 'Killer Loop' ride go today?
We're heading for that particular route at 8am tomorrow, and I wondered how your ride had been?0 -
Thanks for thoughts/comments on our loop today.
What can I say - It was TREMENDOUS. I have a few words to sum it up.
Got up at 6.20AM as was too excited to sleep.
Arrived in the car park and it was COLD!!.
Started out going up Jacobs Ladder first - I think I read in MBR that they though some XC proffessional could actually ride up it, what a joke, absolutely no chance whatsoever!
Got a bit lost and missed out like numbers 2 and 3 on the route (nevermind)
Rode on a big DH road section into Hayfield, then had to ride up the exact same hill on the way out!!!
I hit the fitness wall about 3/4 into the ride, I was ina world of pain and felt like just stopping, lying down and waiting for someone to rescue me and take me back to the car.
Got absolutley soaked - It was really pissing it down towards the end of the ride.
Really enjoyed the DH bits - But we seemed to be riding uphill for 99% of the loop!
Best bit for me was when my rear disc brake was steaming after we stopped after one of the DH runs!!!
Met some top notch riders on the way.
Despite the rain and cold and wind it was an awesome day, and I am now knackered!!0 -
Yesterday used the road bike to get to work (35 miles), then 4 hours of work, interupted by a phone call from the LBS to say things had gone wrong on my rear pivot
Tried to hire a bike for Llandegla with the lads - not luck. So borrowed a mates 15 yr old rigid with exceptionally bad brakes. It was fun, but feeling it today.0 -
Did 25 miles on the road bike yesterday with Iain C and the other halves. His first ride back after broken collar bone and we took it pretty leisurely (Im not cut out for road riding). Just got up and its hosing it down so will be sailing today.http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7231/6933696372_603c9ce220_b.jpg

Gt Destroyer,
Thats exactly how I felt on the killer loop when we did it a month or so ago, very hard work, at one point I thought I was having a heart attack... I had trouble even pushing the bike up the ladder, had to carry the lil baby... Like you say, some good long DHs though. I think we may go back at some stage and do the whole thing the other way round.0 -
Just got back from Edale, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Got wet through, but had a blast and will definitely be going back there in the very near future.
We rode the opposite way round and came down JL. I'd like to meet the guy that can ride up there and clear it!0 -
did glentress instead of inners yesterday....
'twas a little damp so it was.Whenever I see an adult on a bicycle, I believe in the future of the human race.

I was with GT on saturday doing the killer loop from edale via Jacobs Ladder...
Surely there is no way on earth that someone could ride up Jacobs Ladder - everyone that has seen it, what do you think? is it unrideable or not?"If you think straight enough, you can see round corners"0
