SKS mudguard sizing

Does anyone know about sks guard sizing?
I have 1.6 inch tyres on, and wiggle's size guide says:
55mm fits 26x1.0"-1.5"
65mm fits 26x1.6"-2.5"
So, technically, I* need the 65's. But for the sake of 0.1 inches that makes me think I could get away with the 55, which looks nicer.
does anyone know if getting the 55's would (a) work or (b) be stupid?
