Should I get new wheels before I trash these?

See Frank below (or at least a replica)

I commute 12 miles on it.

Do you think I should save these wheels and put some more solid wheels on them, or just wait till they've worn out?

I might add I didn't choose the bike for a commute as much as it chose me.... sort of....

Are you not best to use and abuse these and then upgrade?

Frank's a lovely looking bike by the way, subtle and understated, but colours work really nicely.

Thanks, but mine is a bit more garish - yellow tyres and black and yellow bar tape!

These are decent wheels but not amazing enough to be worth keeping for sunday best. Ride them, enjoy them, and in 5000 miles or so if they're getting a bit knackered you can decide what you want to upgrade to.

p.s. I think I have that saddle on my Trek if you still have it on yours? It's heavy and unstylish but pretty comfy I reckon.

Actually I have a "girl's" saddle on it now - a bontrager I think. Very comfy indeed. When I have worked out the technology I will post a pic of my one on here!

Oh yeh, please excuse the weirdo flattie pedals fitted onto it, they were fitted by the previous owner for his misses, they are now spd'd and the Felt now looks a lot more svelte.

Linsen, me thinks we need to see a piccie of Frank in his current evolution.

EDIT: Ah I see you have just mentioned that above - you just need to use a photohosting website, such as flickr, photobucket etc - I wouldn't recommend pinkbike, as what i didn't realise is that once you have uploaded the pics, you can't delete them ever!

Linsen, I love LeMonds, not quite sure why exactly but they just have this lovelyness about them. Run yer wheels into the ground especially over the winter then get some Fulcrum 3s in the spring!

I like Lemonds too - and carbon and steel sounds a very sophisticated combination. Linsen, you have a PM :)

    MWWWhhahahhahahhahahahah etc etc

    Energising though huh :D

Linsen, once you've uploaded your pics, jpeg format is probably best, you just use the 'Img' button at the top of the subject box.

Copy the url of the piccie, press Img once, then paste the path of the piccie in, then press Img* to finalise it. You will see these "" either side of your picture URL, but they aren't visible once you submit the post.

I am in love with my bike. It looks very bizarre, being part steel and part carbon, a bit like a bob-a-job. But it weighs under 9kg and if I was quicker and lighter myself I'm quite sure it would take off!

Okay, so correct me if I am wrong, but if you are 6' 3 1/2", then your saddle may be too low. :?

You say saddle, I say full 3-seat DFS sofa :)

(Nice bikes! Why is your rear light pointing at the sky?)

AT - obviously I lowered the saddle for the picture so I wouldn't have to show off that my inside leg is 36"

Blondie - yes a sofa. I punish myself enough. Now I've got to a certain age, I deserve a little luxury :) I'll cover it with sheepskin soon....

And the light - It's a second one. If a car gets too close I like to think it will blind them (also, couldn't think where else to put it as it got obscured by the saddle pack :?

I have a slight tingling at the back of my neck, suggesting that something is not right.
