Has any of your paint around the point where you're dropout's and frame meet cracked? I noticed on my old 30 frame that there was a hairline crack in the paint. Presumably caused by the flexy carbon tube meeting the stiff dropout structure resulting in a point of pressure on the paint.

At the time I wondered if it was there from the start but filled with dirt - hence showing up or if it was caused by use.

Anybody else noticed this on their scales?

The scratches you can see were casued by the QR rubbing... since painted over. But no cracked paint.

Yeah, just on the edge of where the dropout meets the frame (the 2-3mm face part):

Sorry in advance for ripping your image CJW

With the 08 30 being white it was easy to see as it blacked up, but you couldnt feel it with a fingernail - nor could you widen it atall by pulling on the wheel.

At the time the LBS looked at it and decided it was more than likely in the paint, as any failure in the bond between frame and dropout would be catestrophic.

By the way - have you noticed how soft the frame tubes are when you squeeze them? Scared the bejesus out of the the other day when I pressed a bit of copter tape on and saw the light reflection bending

Anyway, not noticed anything untowards on my new frame so maybe it was just the old one. But I suspect it was a paint issue rather than the frame

I'm pretty sure i had a few cracks in the top coat of my 06' Scale it that same area... just a join with some flex.. the lacquer/varnish(for want of a better term) is not at all flexible so cracks not bends.

I noticed a small chip in the under housing of my bottom bracket when i was stripping my bike down before taking it to the shop for warranty. Still not heard from the LBS yet. I'm gonna give em till Friday that will be 14 days.

Thinking of grabbing a new full sus machine while some of the 2008 models are cheap :)

Not just me then - the LBS confirmed that this happens on all scales that get treated properly i.e. not wrapped in cotton wool and used by canals at worst

Just waiting for my new frame to 'bed in'

If your LBS drags their heels, contact scott direct - that's what I did, certainly moved things along
