I got these at a bargain price and they fit great however they are adverised as an MTB shoe does it make any difference that I will be using them on a new road bike that I am buying in Dec? What is the diff between MTB shoes and road shoes....they look similar to me but are the soles stiffer (ie carbon) etc Should I have bought more of a road shoe or does it make any difference. The bike I will be using them with is the Kenesis racelight tk. and the pedals are:

Those shoes will be fine to get your started.

The biggest difference between road and MTB shoes is that the cleat will be recessed with MTB shoes, which makes it easier to walk in them. They also only have the fittings for MTB cleats (SPD and similar). Road shoes may have the SPD fittings but will also have a three bolt fitting for road cleats. Finally, road shoes tend to have stiffer soles but I wouldn't let that worry you at the moment.
  • Hi, you have spd pedals and spd shoes, so they will work fine together. Also, spd's are a bit easier for someone getting used to clipless and the shoes will be easier to walk in than road shoes, although probably less stiff.
One day, I'm going to buy a cottage in a small village and become its idiot!
  • is there any difference between the amount of "float" on pedals ie are there some pedals (spd) that are easier on the knees....or I presume it is just a question of adjusting the settings to make them easier to clip in and out off
