Puncture with my Armadillo … oh noes!!!

I was cycling this morning to work when bang … the rear wheel goes!!! Got down and a glass shard of about 1cm had got into my beautiful Armadillo (I had done 1000 miles with it previously and no punctures!) Now, this might sound dumb if you have done this before but I haven’t! With it being a pretty massive hole in the wheel and on the top of it (supposedly the hardest part). Will this create a piercing point if I just repair the inner tube (or put a new one) … what I mean is, will this hole make the tyre weaker?

Thanks,
Gabriel

If it is a significant hole you may want to replace the tyre; if the tube bulges out in any way when you inflate it back up to full pressure definitely replace.

Thanks for the comment. I have now replaced the tube and it all seems ok although haven't tested it yet (need to get back home tonight!).

You could try this. Inflate the tire, fill the cut with Super Glue, deflate tire keeping cut portion at the top. Let dry overnight. Sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't.

As Dennis says. Problem with the "hole" is not so much tube oozing out but debris working its way in and simply rubbing another.....p-thing in the new tube!
