I've got a set of Raceface Evolve XC cranks with X-type bottom bracket, about 1 year old. I need to remove the drive-side crank arm and BB to install a chain device, but the 8mm allen socket I need to undo isn't coming undone, it's just too stiff. Any recommendations or tips would be grate fully received
Thanks

have you made sure the extracting ring is not locked onto the bolt?

  • What is that when it's at home, how can I tell whether it's happened and what can I do to fix it?

outside of the bolt. the M10 allen key hole.

    Looked at the manual?

  • Yeah, i got it off a different post, i think you provided the link to it. It doesn't say anything about removal, but it does say that the self-puller cap and crank bolt doesn't need to be disassembled, so I assume I just need to undo the 8mm allen key bolt. Am I right or does something else need to be done?

but if the 10mm is locked down on the 8mm nothing will move.

  • So if I just back off the 10mm a bit, the 8mm will free off?
