Hey all;
I'm a returning rider to the MTB scene.. I did some basic stuff way back when but coming back to it all has made me realise what I was missing.. Though I still am a complete and utter novice and I've been buying plenty of the reccommended gear down at my local cycling shop but there is one patch I feel that is missing and that's my shoes..
I've been wearing an old-ish pair of trainers so far and I've had one or two falls due to the complete lack of grip in them and was wondering if anyone had any reccommendations for trainers I could wear? I ask this specifically because I don't feel ready to be locking my feet to the peds with cleats just yet! :oops:
Sorry for the long post, thanks for any advice!
Chris

FiveTens are meant to be the best shoes for flat pedals but they aren't cheap!"Melancholy is incompatible with bicycling." ~James E. Starrs0

Like you, I am nowhere near ready to risk my neck with a pair of clipless, and I struggled to find a pair which were stiff enough for cycling off-road. About a month ago I bought a pair of Diadora Toluca from Chain Reaction, I have worn them 4 times a week for 4 weeks and they are excellent, especially for the money. They grip the pedals well, I've not lost the pedals once in them, they have a neat velcro lace cover to stop your laces catching, they don't let the rain in, and they are nice and stiff when you need some power.
I take a size 9, and bought size 44, which is spot-on. At £29.99 they are really good value, under half normal price. See link below..
