Out for a test ride to my employer's new site this morning, there was a big black dog laying dead in the road, its tongue hanging out.

Baboon,
Have you ever been to China?Head Hands Heart Lungs Legs0 -
nope.
I can see why hong kong joining china fully is a big issue, but i still fail to see the link to a dead dog in the road.Nothing in life can not be improved with either monkeys, pirates or ninjas

In the old days a chinese gentleman with a bowler hat and a spade would have cleaned the dog off the road before any white folk happened upon it?0

No no.
The dead black labrador was a stand in dead dog. The original dead dog that had been hit by the car / T 72 wasn't good looking enough so had to be replaced by a better looking dog.
When we ran the shop the original dead dog would have remained but at a higher rate of return.
The dead dog's both liked living in a totalitarian regime where freedom of expression was limited and where everyone eats Chicken's feet. FACTFixed gear for wet weather / hairy roadie for posing in the sun.
What would Thora Hurd do?0 -
Baboon - In that case I urge you to visit.
biondino - I doubt it.

Steve, I'm reading a book about Hong Kong in the 70s at the moment so that's what inspired my comment. Funnily enough I've just got to a bit where a dog is killed0

biondino,
It's not a Martin Booth, is it? 1970's is probably too late for him.
I can recommend "Gweilo", if you've not read it - his memoirs of growing up in HK.
I understand that British rule wasn't all tea and crumpets but from what I gather it was better than the Japanese, or China during the Cultural Revolution....
Greg - China's not a totalitarian regime - anyone can do just about whatever they want as long as they can afford it. And only most people eat fung jou...Head Hands Heart Lungs Legs0
