I had an enjoyable off road afternoon going from Maidenhead to Marlow and back on saturday, but I am confused whether the Thames Path is legal to ride on or not - specifically from Hurley to Marlow?

It is a pleasant, if slightly bone-shaking ride in places. Given the narrowness in a few places, and the fact that the Thames Path is a footpath, I'd be surprised if it were legal, however many people ride along there.

My advice would be to ride gently and courteously so that no-one complains about bl**dy cyclists to the powers that be.
  • i havent had any problems with riding along it. I sometime ride through to get to work in the morning or and afternoon ride to the pubs in marlow.

But as a general rule we are not supposed to cycle on foot paths. this is the definition from the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead

    Public Footpath
Public Footpaths may be used by persons on foot only. You are allowed to take a pram, pushchair or wheelchair along any public footpath, but please be aware that many paths may not be physically suitable for them. Footpaths are typically marked with yellow arrows.

This will give you a better idea about riding on the Thames path

I suppose if we are nice to walkers I cant see it being a problem.
The doctor said I needed to start drinking more whiskey. Also, I’m calling myself ‘the doctor’ now
