Pads worn, needs readjusting for wear? Oil on pads?
  • theres no oil on the disk. The pads shouldn't be worn as they are only a couple of weeks old. i ll try ajusting to see if i get a better feel!

you need to frequently adjust the fixed pad on those brakes to keep them at maximum power. (used to have the same issue with my yukon until I upgraded the brakes).

Loosen the small grub screw with a 2 mm hex key (this screw is located on the bottom of the brake), then using a 5 mm hex key move the fixed pad closer to the disc (slot on the wheel side of the brake for this).

Look at the disc and pads and watch for when there is a tiny gap between them. When the gap is tiny stop adjusting it and re-tighten the grub screw and you should be good to go again.

The pads will wear quick enough to make this a regular job, especially in the mud and grit but it should only take a couple of minutes to do when you are used to it.

After a while you may also need to do the following to compensate for wear (much less frequent then doing the fixed pad):

You will have to adjust the cable every once in a while, most of the time with the barrel adjuster on the brake leaver to keep the amount of lever travel the same. When you are running out of barrel you need to screw it almost all the way back, loosen the cable on the calliper and pull a bit through then re-secure it and fine adjust the lever travel with the barrel on the leaver.

    hope this helps!
