Route Help: London to Didcot

I am due in Didcot for lunch tomorrow and am thinking about riding there from London.
Google walking route is pretty much:
London(Putney)-Maidenhead A4
Maidenhead-Didcot A4130
50miles
The advantages of this are that the directions will be easy to remember. However, I am sure there must be some scenic, quieter, better variations.
I'd certainly like to keep the route below about 60 miles
Any ideas on a decent route.
Many thanks,
Rich
