Commuting is not the new cake stop. It's a method of using a cycle to get to work and back.

I have a well cool road bike

I cycle quite slowly on it (mostly)

    I am, I imagine, not a roadie

    Also I'm a girl

Though I did break my personal landspeed record today and get up to 36.9mph :D

  • 36.9!!!

I need to get moving. My first cyclocomped ride today only gave me a topspeed of 25.9Mph. Maybe if I get a bus to the top of the Great Orme, and then bike on down... :)

It was one of those rollercoaster roads - straight as a poker, nice and wide and no traffic. Couldn't recommend it otherwise!

My average is only 15.5 generally

36.9 MPH on the flat glup!

Not sure where you live but today was ridiculously windy in Wiltshire, I just about managed that downhill.

No no was down a hill. Have never topped 25 or so on the flat!

I was in Dorset - yes very very windy, hardest ride I've ever done and it was only 15m. Going up th e17% hill at the end was agony - coming back down absolutely terrifying and no that wasn't the 36.9 one!

Convert your bike computer to km/h - it makes it seem so much faster :D

  • The only place miles make sense to me is on a road. For any other purpose, I have to visualise my car's odometer and convert to kilometres.

Having never really been over to the cake stop forum (except during the recent LiT-gate incident!) I can't really give an opinion on what I'm missing!

From what I understand the cake stop forum was meant to be a more general chit chat area and the other forums should try and keep subjects under their general area.
With the advent of the SCR thread and it's growing popularity I think a lot of people have been drawn in and there is a excellent sense of a group of like minded people contributing from various area's. I think the thing with commuting is that we don't have any choice as to what board we post on, hence all the chat gets lumped into commuting general.

The first Morpeth meet up was a bit nerve racking, but once the introductions had been taken care of it turned out to be a great night out. Since then I have always tried to attend as it's a great chance to chill out and relax with like minded people! It's also good to put a face to everyone!

I think commuting is much more amusing than the average forum, and I have felt pretty included since visiting
    :)
