I think that TN's post should have gone on the "have you ever been chatted up" thread :-)
I'm more then happy to knock up conversation with pretty much anyone, usually only get a chance when at lights or if I end up blocked in somewhere with another cyclist! I'd have to say the further out from the city the more likely it is to happen tho!
I am getting rather good at acknowledging cyclist coming the other way, usually on the less busy roads as I try to work out what their riding and wish I was heading their way as it would give me someone to chase :-)
This does remind me of a quote I saw once:There is no such thing as strangers, just friends who haven't meet yet
Seems quite appropriate!0 -
...cycling home from the gym a while back I was stopped and surrounded by a hen party. They said I had a lovely helmet   ...all joking aside I did feel pretty intimitated...
...but of course I thought of the witty reply as I escaped and rode off...
...which was..."would you like to polish it for me"......all the way...'til the wheels fall off and burn...0 -

I just hate it when that happens (the witty reply coming 5 minutes to late, not the surrounded by drunken girls bit)
Good reply tho0 -
Having seen Don Don's photo, I can confirm I wasn't playing second fiddle to LiT... this bloke had much more hair. It was all completely grey/white. And not in a premature kind of way.
I was rather hoping I wasn't being chatted up and he was just a bit of a loon, which is why I chose this thread instead. Perhaps I was being chatted up by a loon...
I may have to start leaving work at slightly different times each day (although I already do that so God knows how he's managed to spot me so many times). :roll:0 -
I like chatting to other commuters who are riding nice bikes round oxford. There's one who I often talk to who rides a fuji track bike with a pink deep v on the back, a white one on the front and no brakes. She isn't too fast but is good to talk to about bikes and stuff.0

What is this game you speak of? Of course I'm not playing...0 -
Cycling in from Putney to the City at 5.45am I don't get many cyclists to chat to a that time of day. However, last week rode second half of commute chatting to another cyclist after we both nearly got totalled by a car RLJer - have seen this guy a number of times over the last year or so as he lives in my street and works about 500 metres from me. Realised that one of the main reasons for not riding/talking more often is that city traffic doesn't really allow easy riding side-by-side. And also, taking your own line (in the dark) through the pot-holes, round cars/buses and at junctions is way more difficult with another cyclist alongside. Conundrum now is that having made contact with this chap, am I required to chat/cycle in with him every time I see him, or do we go back to the previous status-quo of faux non-recognition....Time VRS Pro-Team 08 – weekend steed

You need to report it , stress to the police how serious it is.
He could be *issed from the night before or just a natural idiot.
The police may well alert patrol cars in that area, or better still , get a helmet cam and show that the police.
Remember next time , he could loose it and wipe you out for good.0 -
Yes, talk to the cycling brethren, but also to peds and anyone else you pass, they may think you're mad, but I bet it gets infectious. And if they don't reply, no loss.
Regularly pass a couple of guys going the other way, always a friendly wave/nod/morning etc. Sometimes see a chap walking his dogs, and I don't know his name, but I do know the names of the dogs :-) So I greet them too.0
