Merlin cycles - I had XTR m975 hubs built with DT swiss 4.2d rims, but you can also get 717s
DO NOT go to Dave Hinde - as you have heard he is a t*sser0 -
why did you choose the dts??0

Just a good rim, someone on here recommended them to me ages ago - I have historically always used Mavic rims but fancied a change, nice, light and stiff - make for a stunning ride0

same price and weight as the 717s
dont make me ask supersonic another question!!!!!!
I FEEL for him, poor bloke0 -
oooo... im going for the same wheels, theres not much different between the two, i think the 717's are 5g lighter but tbh its all here and there and i doubt its all that accurate when your talking a gram or so.
I wanted the dt's, i think they look nicer, but went with the 717's as they came in the spoke holes i needed whereas the dt's didnt (i was working on a tiny budget and just got what i could cheap)
Think you'll be happy wither way, XT hubs are great, and to get them built a decent local bikeshop will do it, i know a couple of good wheel builders around here, ask around in the locals0 -
Yep, Merlin just built me a set of Hopes on 819's and are the best built wheels i've had, also with a 4 day turnaround. Highly recommended.
I bought a pair from dave hinde (717's) which were absolutely cr4ply built, terrible service and rude! CRC built me some 819's which were OK.Ibis Mojo SL-r0 -
