in all fairness I think the goverment were right to bail out HBOS (dont bother swearing at me, its just my opinion! , but feel free to contradict if I am wrong! I dont claim to be an expert.
You have to consider that if HBOS goes bust there would be mass unemployment just like Lehman Bro's, people could possibly termporarily lose access to their money (im not sure on that one - just a thought), and it's not just HBOS that lose out - its all of their shareholders too.
there could also be a problem with people having morgages - maybe being required to pay off their morgage or get it transferred to another company - which could be very hard in the current financial situation. As a result - could also result in homeless people??
To allow a company as big as Halifax go bust would be like lighting dynamite in my opinion.0
