Advice sought on commuting routes NW London to/from centre

Hi,
I've just recently arrived in London from Melbourne for a few months secondment. I've got into a sharehouse in Cricklewood and plan to ride to work - at least when the weather's not atrocious :? . So I'm wondering if anyone would like to recommend routes between there and Holborn area where I'm working?
I have a some tolerance for dealing w/ motor traffic as I've been an urban cyclist for best part of a decade - but would really love a few tips from locals to help avoid the worst of it if there's some cruisier options!
