Getting myself a turbo trainer for the MTB to boost my training over winter also a Garmin edge 305 HR & CAD, I'm looking for some good reading so I can get the most out of this kit.
Thanks

You probably wouldn't find a book based solely on HR. Go to your local library and look up the sports/cycling section, there will be something there for you.
And you do get quite a hefty, well written & informative manual with the 305.
Though in a nutshell, HRs are not rocket science. I have an avg RHR of 39bpm, this is from MTBing, not road & i never get chance to read.
Though I can appreciate that some people are in different situations. Obsesity, illness etc...0 -
Just type 'heart rate training' into google.0

Tried google and there is an wealth of information out there on the subject...but call me old fashioned but I guess I just like to read a book now and then, I’ll check out the library this afternoon and see what I can find. I’ve used a HRM years ago, not for cycling though, just looking for some info on training sessions specific to my type of riding i.e. XC and marathon etc.
KB8, do you have a 305? How do you rate it? From all the reviews I've read it looks very good.uttp://farm3.static.flickr.com/2453/3644058624_66a72402ee.jpg/]Hardtail0 -
Garmin 305 is a great piece of kit for this sort of thing. I've been using for over a year - had to have it replaced a few times although Garmin customer support is very good. For training you can set your heart rate zones and set upe (for example) interval training programmes based on zones.

Yes mate I have 1. Technology definitely beginning to age, I no longer use it for navigation. I use it to track performance during & after rides and the Virtual Partner definitely the best feature, I've whooped my own ass so many times.
